I moved to Arizona in 1988 from Western Pennsylvania, about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh.  After living in Gilbert for 20 years I moved to Northeast Mesa over ten years ago.  I used to drive 16 miles each way to hike Usery Mountain and now love having it so close as well as all the other great hiking trails in the area.

My son, Michael and his wife Ashley reside in Sewickly, PA with my Grandsons Wyatt (4 yrs old), Franklin (2) and Harvey (5 months).  My significant other Rick Lyons owns Select Builders here in Mesa. We live with his two sons Matthew (23) and Michael (21).  We have an African Sulcate tortoise, Mr. ‘T’ who resides in his own habitat in our back yard.

When I was in my twenties, I had the opportunity to work with a couple of different real estate agents/Realtors.  It became very clear to me there were some good agents and some ‘Not So Good’ agents.  I had been with the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) for over twelve years as a meeting planner but I always had an interest in real estate.

When the opportunity came for me to move to Arizona, I needed a flexible position and hours.  I then developed a business plan to start my real estate career and off to real estate school I went!  I became a Graduate of the Realtor Institute (GRI); a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS); obtained my broker’s license and then earned my Certified Residential Broker (CRB). Next thing I know, 2,000+ transactions later, I just had my thirtieth anniversary of selling real estate here in the Southeast Valley.

Real estate, market conditions, technology, and laws are constantly changing.  I decided to go on my own and start Choice One Properties in 2003 as owner and designated broker.  We are located just over Las Sendas Mountain down Hawes Rd off Oak on 88th Street.  You will find our office in a residence which is also a vacation home.  This gives our relocating clients a place to stay when on their house hunting trip or local clients a place if needed when in between homes. 

I still like to think of real estate as a ‘people’ business and relationships matter.  As a small boutique real estate office, you will find we do simple things that make a difference. Things like answer the phone, return phone calls, texts and emails in a timely manner.  You may laugh but folks find it refreshing to get to talk to a live person. We are all about service.  You can think of us as the concierge of your real estate transaction.

We offer full service real estate services for our sellers and buyers.  But also offer flexible commission plans to fit everyone’s budget.  Real estate and technology are constantly changing.  We believe communication is key!  Our core purpose is ‘To share our knowledge and expertise to best meet the real estate needs and goals of our clients!’

As a volunteer mediator and ombudsperson at our local association of Realtors, I encourage folks to call me when they have a real estate question or need an opinion. Even a second opinion about a real estate scenario.  I am always happy to chat about real estate.

Best advise I can give home owners in this market is be sure to evaluate your equity situation before deciding to settle for that quick cash investor offer.  I am seeing so many home owners leave equity on the table to let investors later flip their homes.  There are easy solutions for homeowners to increase their home’s value and maximize their equity.  We even have a finance option so sellers don’t have to come out of pocket to do improvements.  Maximize your equity, isn’t that why you invested in a home in the first place!
